Just last week (2/13/20) I filmed a segment called .. What’s the DIFFERENCE ? I spoke about the importance of Luis Severino to the starting rotation and the overall success of the 2020 Yankees season. I passionately explained how crucial it is for him to pronate his wrist when he throws his change-up. I go into great detail about the importance of DIFFERENCE in speed. My main point is .. a starter needs an off-speed pitch (whether it’s a curveball, slider or change-up) that has significant variance in velocity to his fastball in order to throw off the timing of major league hitters.

Now, one week later (2/20/20) we find out that Luis Severino was scratched from throwing live BP because he has right forearm soreness. He feels pain when he throws his change-up which requires him to pronate his arm. He will fly back to NY for more tests.
I’m working on a new column breaking down the latest Severino injury, but the headline for this column was easy ..
What a DIFFERENCE a week makes.
