The Yankees won yet another series. After dropping the first game of the three game series (July 2-4) to the Atlanta Braves in 11 innings 5-3, the Yanks bounced back to take the next two games 8-5 & 6-2. The Bombers are 18-2-2 in their last 22 series dating back to April 19th.
The only negative to the 4th of July Rubber game win in which CC Sabathia had another solid outing (6 inn., 5H, 2ER, W6-3) and the offense continued to hit home runs (Stanton, Higashioka & Judge) was that Gleyber Torres left the game with a right hip strain and is going on the 10-day DL. Gleyber has been such a big part of the Yankees success since being called up in on April 22nd. The talented 21 year old has contributed on both sides of the ball, hitting .294 BA, .350 On-base%, 15 HRs, 42 RBIs, and playing a very solid defensive 2B. Neil Walker is expected to get the majority of the starts, while Brandon Drury might also see some time at 2B.
