OH BOY

The Yankees traveled north of the border for a quick 2 game set and managed to sweep the short series (June 5th & 6th) vs. the Blue Jays.

The Bombers took the first game 7-2 highlighted by Miguel Andujar’s first career Grand Slam HR. Aaron Hicks added a 3R Blast, and CC Sabathia pitched 7 solid innings, allowing 2 runs and 3 hit for the win (3-1). Seunghwan Oh, who surrendered the GS to Andujar, suffered the loss (1-2)

The second game took 13 innings to be decided. Aaron Judge broke a scoreless tie in the top of the 13th with a long 2R HR to left-center. He gave a young Judge fan a memory of a lifetime. First the young boy with an Aaron Judge sign caught a baseball hit by his idol during batting practice. This caught the attention of the YES Network cameras. They cut to him during every Judge AB waving his handmade sign as Aaron started the game 0-4, but Judge rewarded him for his loyalty with a game winning blast. Stanton added an insurance run right after, when he crushed a line drive HR to left at a blistering 119 mph exit velocity. Sonny Gray pitched a brilliant 8 innings of 2 hit, shutout baseball, but unfortunately had to settle for a no-decision. David Robertson earned the win (4-2) and Aroldis Chapman closed it out for save # 15.

Next stop … Citifield / NYM and Subway Series -2018. One thing is for certain .. the 27-32 Mets, losers of 6 straight, and who have played embarrassing & uninspired baseball for the last month will now come to life and treat this series like it is their World Series. Fortunately the 40-18 Yankees will not overlook the struggling Mets team, especially when you consider the 3 starters they face .. deGrom (4-0) 1.49 ERA !!, Matz (2-4) 3.42 ERA & Syndergaard (4-1) 3.06 ERA. Could any/all be auditioning for a possible crosstown trade at the trade deadline ? Not likely, but ya never know. One thing is for sure, the Yanks have a loaded farm and will be offering top prospects to bring back a top starter which they desperately need. It is just a matter of which team they end up dealing with.

As always,

Go NYY 11
