CHAPPED

Back on April 26th at the end of the Yankee game in Boston I noticed Chapman grab his arm as
the team was congratulating each other on the infield of a cold Fenway Park. There was nothing mentioned on the immediate post game
comments by Bob Lorenz or Jack Curry. I thought surely it would be mentioned when they went
back to Michael Kay in the booth for his immediate recap. Again nothing was mentioned, which really surprised me. But then again, it happened very quickly and it
happened after a win in which Chapman allowed a run but did get the Save. There was no real reason
to be scrutinizing his every move.
Again .. it happened very quickly, so I went back and recorded the moment in slow-motion and tweeted it out.

It was approximately 10 minutes after my tweet that I saw the topic being discussed.
When asked directly, about the grab, Chapman dismissed it by saying & repeating ” I’m fine” (through his translator)
I believe Joe Girardi’s comment was “I didn’t see it”, but one would have to assume that he eventually did
get to see it.
My point is, imo the Yankees needed to not take the players word for the fact that he is “fine”. Just based on Chapman’s
reaction, he should has been sent for some type of medical evaluation and possibly an immediate MRI.
The Yankees were one month into a 5 year $86M deal with Aroldis Chapman.

Last night (May 13th) Chapman shook his arm after making a pitch to Jose Altuve of the Houston Astros.
Yankees trainer Steve Donohue ran out to the mound to check on Chapman. Chapman stayed in the game in
which he had already given up a run making the score Houston 5 – NY 1. Chapman was only in the game to get some work in.
Altuve lined a single to Right field after the visit, and then Chapman’s night was over.
Instead of a clean inning to get some work in Chapman was pulled mid-inning for the 2nd game in a row. Chapman allowed
the Cubs to tie a game with 3 runs and was pulled in the 9th inning of last Sunday nights game that turned into an 18 inning marathon that
fortunately ended in victory at 2:15 am.

Since that cold night in Boston, Chapman has given up 5 runs on 9 hits in 6.1 innings (7 appearances).

Aroldis Chapman was not around after the game. Here’s a quote from Joe Girardi .. “He said he was fine. No pain, nothing”.

Keep in mind, Aroldis Chapman criticized Joe Maddon for being overused in last year’s World Series.

Look up “chapped” in the urban/slang dictionary. The definition is : ANGRY
Here’s another definition: (adjective)
– something that is not only displeasing, but also to indicate something is badly beat up or rough looking, or something that has seen its better days –

Let’s hope not.

I felt strongly the Yankees should have had Chappy (Girardi’s nick-name) get his arm/elbow evaluated back on April 26th, but at this point if they don’t do
some precautionary tests .. I will be CHAPPED !!
