There’s something about Gary !!
In the first 21 games of his career, Gary Sanchez has hit 9 Home Runs.
In the history of the NY Yankees, no player has ever done that. In fact
in the history of MLB only 4 players have accomplished the feat.
On top of that, when he hits his homers, they are not cheapies that
just make it over the wall, they are 400 + foot Bombs.
He has also hit for an amazing average. His complete stat line :
.389 BA , .450 On Base % , 9 HR , 16 RBI , 1.297 OPS , 21 games, 72 ABs
(ARod had 9HR in 225 ABs)
And Sanchez has gotten better as he has gone along.
Last 10 games :
.500 BA , .581 On Base % , 8 HR , 12 RBI , 1.831 OPS
But to me the best news about Gary Sanchez is that he has been
a complete ball player. He is outstanding defensively behind the plate !
He blocks balls in the dirt, calls a good game, frames pitches well,
and has a cannon for an arm. The league is finding out quickly that
you don’t run on him. He has thrown out 5 of 8 base runners
in stolen base attempts.
Sanchez has above average speed for a catcher, and is aggressive
running the bases.
Yes .. There’s Something About Gary.
That Something right now is …. EVERYTHING !!
On the lighter side, I think John Sterling needs some help
with his Home Run call for Sanchez .
His call is ” Gary is Scary ”
Maybe we can come up with a better suggestion.

and with the thought in mind that Girardi comes up
with nicknames for players by cutting their last name short
