On the verge of the Yankees playing their biggest series in 3 years
we mentioned that the 2015 season was boiling down to 24 remaining games,
and 7 of those head-head vs. 1st Place Toronto.
Well the Yankees went into this 4 game series vs. Toronto down by 1 game in the loss column
and after losing the first three, find themselves 4 1/2 games out 1st , and now realistically trying
not to fall out of the Wild Card picture.
The series could not have gone much worse so far, with the Saturday’s
double-header becoming nightmarish by the end of the day.
Ineffective pitching, missed opportunities at the plate, base running blunders,
questionable managerial moves, bad luck … you name it , it happened.
On top of that, Yankee Stadium fans decided not to stay for the 2nd game.
Let me clarify that. The Yankee fans decided not to stay. The Blue Jay fans
(and there were plenty) did stay, and took over the Stadium.
Throw in a RAIN DELAY , and it all added up to cruel and unusual punishment
for die-hard Yankee fans.
WE NEED A ‘HIRO :
Again, there was so much that went wrong it literally makes you shake your head,
but the biggest culprit was … the Starting Pitching.
Severino went 2.1 Innings and allowed 6 Runs
Pineda went 5.1 Innings and allowed 4 Runs
Nova (not to be outdone) went only 1.2 Innings allowing 6 Runs
That is the biggest concern of the 3 losses.
How good are the Yankee Starters ??
Can they … compete vs. the elite when the season is on the line ??
Because I, like most savvy Yankee fans, realize that ..
Pitching Wins Championships !!
Well Sevy, Pineda & Nova get to lick their wounds and
look to bounce back in their next starts, while the Yanks look
to avoid a 4 game sweep at home by Toronto.
